Welcome, flames, candlewicks, and candelabrums! Candelabræm was born from a simple desire. Our founder Mar was merely thirteen when he dreamt of a community of like-minded individuals who enjoyed his interests and were mature enough to understand this simple truth: dark art and dark reality are wholly different. At the time, despite wanting this, he didn't know the words for it or how to explain it. Furthermore, even all the way in the mid-2000s, this seemed impossible, but it seems even more so now with America's—and the world's—poor social climate.Whether you are here to read, to create, or to hang out among the shadows of the Candelhaus, we only ask that you remain on your best behavior—the abyss has been giving us funny looks lately.Oh, and bring reading glasses. It's rather dark in here. 🕯️

Candelabræm began twenty years ago as a mere idea by a youth with a dream. When he was thirteen, Mar wanted to create a mature community for those interested in the dark, diverse, devious, and beyond. He desired for a community greater than any seen before, and he made the first steps toward this dream through an art site aptly named deviantART. But something was missing.UnseenARTS. HallowARTS. Enigmatic Arts. DeVerse. For over a decade, this dream would take many forms. None lasted long, and none meant as much to him as the desire for a community itself. Frustrated and disheartened, he wouldn't again consider making his dream a reality even after the ten-year anniversary of its conception. It remained a fleeting idea. Then, in 2023, he was greatly inspired by the creative Emory Glass, editor-in-chief of Inkblood Company, to create his own publisher. He named this endeavor Candelabræm Books. Overwhelmed with a rekindled love for his community, and seeing promise in it through Candelabræm Books, he rushed through its development, going so far as to attempt a crowdfunding project just a year later. It was too soon.Once he understood his mistake, he took a step back and reevaluated what he wanted to do with this endeavor...Merely two years later, in April of 2025, Candelabræm Books became a subsidiary to Candelabræm, the twenty-year culmination of all the attempts Mar made in the past to make his dream a reality. With patience and care, today, Candelabræm has amassed a small online presence and interest through social media, and Mar has no intentions to stop.Beginning with creating a steady stream of developmental updates and small events, Mar plans to thoroughly ensure Candelabræm becomes what he has longed for: a safe space for the truly dark and diverse, the freaks and weirdos, the not-so-sane and the daring at heart, from all walks of life.
Unofficially created in 2020, Candelabræm is located in Connecticut, USA. It will be the home for stories and art by Mar Qaroll—and hopefully by others in the future.

Mar Qaroll strives to be 100% authentic to himself, a true purveyor of the taboo, perverse, diverse, and little things that are devious, regardless of anything. He prefers to use his own logic and judgement to guide his actions, even if it gets him in trouble. He has finished a total of four stories and one short story since 2017.

Tales that shy from the light of day...but dare to be read by candlelight. We strive to serve readers mature, dark, and fantastic tales from twisted dreams born of secret desires and the love of storytelling. While dealing with these self-inflicted limitations, dire consequences, and tantalizing provocations, they may attempt to overcome the workings of the very worlds they live in.Not all is always as it seems. By candlelight, Reader, you will learn the truth—if you dare.
